Betting rules: Markets

Markets lets you pick what happens next on questions from the prediction markets, such as whether Bitcoin goes up or down in the next 15 minutes, tomorrow's high temperature in New York, where a stock closes, the Fed's next decision, who has the best AI model, the week's #1 song on Spotify, or who wins an esports match. You play with your Free Bet Balance. You must be 21 or older.

Free bets only

• Market picks use your Free Bet Balance only. They can't be placed with your Paid Bet Balance or Contest Balance.
• Market picks are not part of anything else: they can't be Streak picks, Contest bets, parlays, teasers, 3x bets or Pick Points (including Moneyline Madness), and they don't count toward the 7 days in a row bonus, the 3x bet or any leaderboard.
• Each pick is from $0.05 up to $5.00, and you can make up to 20 market picks a day.

Odds

• The chance shown for each choice comes from the prediction market Polymarket. The odds include a house edge, like a sportsbook's (a 50/50 question shows -110 on both sides).
• The odds are locked when you make your pick. If they change while your slip is open, nothing is placed: the slip shows the new odds and you can pick again at those odds.
• Questions where one choice has less than a 10% chance aren't offered.

When picks close

• Up or Down questions (such as Bitcoin or Ethereum) close when their time window starts. A question is about the price at the end of the window compared with the price at its start.
• Other questions close at the time shown on their card: a day's high temperature at midnight (New York time) as that day starts, a stock's closing price at the 9:30 AM market open, a week's tweet count when the week starts, the week's #1 Spotify song when the chart's week ends (midnight New York time), an esports match when the match starts, and longer questions some hours before they're decided.
• Picks are checked against our server clock. A pick that reaches us after the close isn't placed and your balance isn't charged.

Results

• Each question is graded by the prediction market's official result. Up or Down results are also checked against Coinbase's price; if the two clearly disagree, our staff review the question before it's graded.
• A winning pick pays your stake plus winnings to your Free Bet Balance. A losing pick loses its stake.
• If a question is cancelled, settled 50/50, or has no official result 72 hours after it ends, it's void and every stake is refunded.
• Market picks show in My Bets on the Free tab, under Pending and Completed. While you have a market pick waiting on its result, your Free Bet Balance doesn't refill.
• One account per person. Picks made with more than one account, or using a fault in the odds or the clock, can be voided.
