- Pick your squares before kickoff. Each one costs $0.25 from your Free Bet Balance, up to 4 per board.
- At kickoff the numbers 0 to 9 are drawn at random for each team, so nobody can pick the "good" numbers.
- After the 1st quarter, at halftime, after the 3rd quarter and at the final, take the last digit of each team's score. The square where they meet wins.
- Prizes: $5.00 after the 1st quarter, $5.00 at halftime, $5.00 after the 3rd quarter and $10.00 at the final (overtime counts), however many squares are sold. They go into the winner's Free Bet Balance.
- If nobody has the winning square, its prize rolls on to the next quarter. At the final it's split over every square sold.
- If the game is postponed, every square is refunded.
What is the football squares game?
Football squares is the easiest pool in sports. You don't need any football knowledge, and every square has a shot at winning. The board is a 10x10 grid: one team runs across the top, the other down the side, and each team gets the digits 0 to 9 along its axis. Players claim squares on the grid, the numbers are assigned, and the score decides the rest.
It started as a printable football squares sheet passed around office pools and Super Bowl parties, and Super Bowl squares are still the most played version on the big game. The same football squares pool works for any playoff game or college football matchup. On Paid2Bet it's a free online football squares game: tap the squares you want, and we keep score for you.
How to play football squares on Paid2Bet
- Pick a board. We open boards for big NFL games each week, and add another board on the same game when one fills up.
- Claim your squares. Tap the squares you want and confirm. Each one costs a small amount from your Free Bet Balance, with a limit per player so everyone gets a chance.
- Numbers are drawn at kickoff. The digits 0 to 9 are drawn randomly for each team when the game starts, so nobody can grab the good numbers early.
- Win every quarter. At the end of the first quarter, halftime, the end of the third quarter and the final score, the square that matches the last digit of each team's score wins.
How the winner is decided: an example
Say the Bills are across the top and the Chiefs are down the side. At the end of the first quarter it's Bills 7, Chiefs 3. Find the 7 in the Bills row, follow it down to the 3 in the Chiefs column, and that square wins the first-quarter prize. If it's Chiefs 17, Bills 14 at halftime, the square at Bills 4, Chiefs 7 wins next.
Prizes and payout
Every board shows its four prizes before kickoff: after the first quarter, at halftime, after the third quarter and at the final score, with the biggest payout at the end. Prizes go straight into the winner's Free Bet Balance. If nobody claimed the winning square, its prize rolls over to the next quarter, and at the final it's shared by every square on the board.

Questions and answers
How many squares are on a football board?
A standard football squares board is a 10x10 grid, so it has 100 squares. Each square is one combination of a digit from 0 to 9 for each team.
How do you win football squares?
At the end of each quarter, take the last digit of each team's score. Find that digit for one team across the top and for the other team down the side. The square where they meet wins that quarter.
What are the best numbers in football squares?
Squares with 0, 7, 3 and 4 win most often, because NFL scores move in touchdowns (7) and field goals (3). Squares with 2, 5 or 9 come up the least. On Paid2Bet the numbers are drawn at random at kickoff, so every square has the same chance when you pick it.
Can you play football squares online for free?
Yes. On Paid2Bet you play with your Free Bet Balance, which every account gets for free. There's nothing to buy, and prizes go into your Free Bet Balance.
Does overtime count in football squares?
On Paid2Bet, yes: the final square is decided by the final score including overtime. Some office pools use the score at the end of regulation instead, so check the rules of any pool you join.
