How our computer picks work

Our computer picks come from a model that rates every team on offense and defense, then projects the final score of every game.

  • Every score counts. Results from this season and last go into each team's ratings. Recent games count more, and ratings update after every final.
  • Opponents matter. Scoring 30 against a top defense counts for more than 30 against a weak one.
  • Home field or court. The model adds the home team's edge, worked out separately for each league.
  • Projection vs. the line. The projected score is compared with the current spread and total. The side the projection favors is the pick.
  • It keeps learning. Every week the model checks its own projections against the results and fine-tunes itself.

Picks lock at game time and are never changed afterwards. Every pick, win or lose, goes into the public record below. Computer picks are projections, not guarantees. Bet responsibly. 21+.

Star ratings. The bigger the gap between our projection and the line, the more stars:

  • ★★★★★ Top pick (about the top 10% of our picks)
  • ★★★★★ Strong
  • ★★★★★ Solid
  • ★★★★★ Lean
  • ★★★★★ Slight lean

Computer Picks FAQ

How do computer picks work?

A computer model rates every team on offense and defense from final scores (this season and last, recent games counting more), adjusts for opponents and home field or court, and projects the score of each game. That projection is compared with the spread and total, and the side it favors is the pick.

Are computer picks accurate?

No pick wins every time, so we show every result: our record by sport, by star rating, for the last 7 days, last 30 days, this season and all time. Each pick is locked when the game starts and graded from the final score, win or lose.

Are your computer picks free?

The record and the star rating on every game are free for everyone, no login needed, and each pick opens up to everyone 10 minutes after the game starts. Full Access members see every pick before the game.

What is the difference between computer picks and expert picks?

Computer picks come only from the numbers: team ratings and projected scores. Our Expert Picks follow what paid handicappers are picking. When both agree on a side, that is worth a look.

Which bets do your computer picks cover?

A pick against the spread and a pick on the total (over / under) for every NFL, college football, NBA and college basketball game with lines.

Are computer picks guaranteed to win?

No. They are projections, and even the best models lose plenty of bets. Use the star ratings and the record to decide, bet only what you can afford, and keep it fun. 21+.
