Betting rules: Squares

Squares is a free NFL football squares game played with your Free Bet Balance. You must be 21 or older.

The board

• Each board is a 10x10 grid (100 squares) for one NFL game: the away team across the top, the home team down the side.
• Boards are opened by our staff for selected games. When a board fills up, another board may be opened on the same game.
• Each board shows its price per square and the most squares one player can have (usually $0.25 and 4).

Picking squares

• Squares are bought from your Free Bet Balance until kickoff. Once a square is yours it can't be changed or sold back.
• A purchase is all or nothing: if any square you picked was just taken, you're over the limit, the game has kicked off or your balance is too low, nothing is bought.
• At kickoff the board locks and the numbers 0 to 9 are drawn at random for each team.

Winners and prizes

• Each board shows its four prizes before kickoff: after the 1st quarter, at halftime, after the 3rd quarter and at the final score. A board pays either set amounts, however many squares are sold, or a share of the pot (every square sold times the price), so its prizes grow as squares sell.
• Each winner is the square where the last digit of each team's score meets. It's the total score at that point, not the points scored in that quarter.
• The final prize goes by the final score, overtime included.
• If nobody has the winning square, its prize rolls over to the next quarter. If nobody has the final square, the final prize is split evenly over every square sold (cents that can't be split evenly aren't paid).
• Prizes go into the winner's Free Bet Balance, usually within minutes of the end of the quarter.

Postponed games and corrections

• If the game is postponed or a board is cancelled, every square is refunded to the Free Bet Balance. Prizes already paid stay paid.
• Scores come from our score feed. If a quarter's score is missing, our staff enter it and the prize is paid then.
• While you have squares on a board that isn't finished, your Free Bet Balance doesn't refill.
• One account per person. Squares bought with more than one account can be cancelled and prizes taken back.
