NBA Odds Today

Here are the NBA odds today for every game that hasn't tipped off. Each one has a point spread, a moneyline and a total from major sportsbooks, plus first-quarter, first-half and team total lines, and it all updates through the day. Nothing on this board costs money to bet.

Reading NBA odds: one game, three bets

Take a made-up game. The home team is -5.5 at -110, the visitors +5.5 at -110. The moneyline is home -220, visitors +180. The total is 228.5.

The spread is the handicap. Bet the home side and they have to win by 6 or more; bet the visitors and they can lose by 5 and you still win. At -110 either way, $110 wins $100.

The moneyline asks only who wins. Backing the home team at -220 means risking $220 to win $100, because they're the likelier winner. The visitors at +180 pay $180 on a $100 bet if they pull the upset. On our board everyone can bet favorites up to -300, and Full Access members up to -1000.

The total is the combined score of both teams. Over 228.5 needs 229 points or more between them, under needs 228 or fewer. NBA totals sit far higher than football ones, but the bet works the same.

Betting part of a game

Basketball splits neatly into pieces, and the board does too. First-quarter lines only count the opening 12 minutes. First-half NBA odds stop at halftime, so a team that starts fast and fades late can still cash for you. Team totals let you bet one side's points without caring about the other.

The second-half lines post at halftime, after the sportsbooks have watched the first 24 minutes, and they close after a short countdown. If you've been watching the game, that's when your read is freshest.

What moves NBA betting lines on game day

Basketball has small rosters, so one NBA player in or out matters more than in almost any other sport. Injury reports, rest days and late lineup news can move a spread several points before tip-off, and totals react too. Heavy betting on one side does the same thing more slowly.

If you like a number, it can pay to bet it before the news hits. If you're unsure who's playing, waiting is fine; the board keeps updating until the game locks at tip-off.

How to place NBA bets free tonight

Every new player starts with a Free Bet Balance. Choose a line, enter an amount and place the bet. You can also stack a few bets into a parlay, where every leg has to win but the payout grows with each one. Free bets aren't real money, and the balance refills once it runs out and the bets are graded. Every $100.00 of it converts to $1.00 of Paid balance, or $2.00 with Full Access.

Not sure which side to take? Our NBA best bets, rated by how many experts agree, are one click away. The players at the top of the monthly leaderboard win real cash prizes by PayPal, and so do long runs in the Streak Contest, where you pick one game at a time.

Questions and answers

How are NBA odds today set?

The lines on our board come from major sportsbooks, whose oddsmakers price each game and then adjust as money and news come in. We update our board through the day to follow them.

What does +150 mean in NBA odds?

A plus number shows what a $100 bet wins. At +150, $100 wins $150 if your team comes through. A minus number like -150 is what you'd risk to win $100.

When do NBA odds close?

Each game locks for betting at tip-off. Second-half lines then open at halftime and close again after a short countdown.

Is betting NBA odds on Paid2Bet free?

Yes. You bet with a Free Bet Balance that refills when it runs out and your bets are graded, and there's no deposit. You must be 21+ to play; gambling problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER.
